AI environmental and physiological damage has been openly profiled. Not to forget how they “trained” it was open theft from actual artists and creators. It’s harmful whether someone wants to accept that or not. I am against it and frankly would hope supporters of the creators in this community would also be against it. But since its currently so easy for people to access I doubt the slop will stop any time soon.

So please if you do post AI slop, even if its only an added part of your work, tag it so people that don’t want to interact with it don’t have to.

Ai is like a vending machine, you press the buttons of what you want . That doesn’t make you cook.
Can you make “dinner” this way, and people show up ? sure.
I’d be inclined to say, let’s keep it tagged and separate, from other forms of art and genuine effort.

@HHunter1 That’s our policy, and I hope people do always remember to tag. I’m personally not cool with AI “art” being posted here, but I log on here every few months. If not for our ONE mod @The-Big-G (I’d be so happy if more people volunteered!!) who’s out on the frontlines solo, dealing with bots, user flags, suggestions, etc, I’d have no idea what’s going on this forum. I’m just paying the bill and hoping everyone plays nice 😰

It all boils down to a manpower issue. We just don’t have enough folks to promptly moderate this sort of content being shared, so we accept it here…again with hopes that they’re sharing with proper warnings that their work is AI generated. 🙏

@Jitensha My apologies to our host then for my AI “art” posts.

As I said before, I spend a lot of time and thought on the pieces I work on. And they mean a great deal to me, but I understand why both in terms of the mechanisms behind the generation and they way people use it, that its just never going to be OK with some folks. I guess when it’s the only thing you’ve got, you make do. I’ve tried other media many times in my life and always come up “short” as it were. Back in the day I was pretty good at making collages, but honestly that still gets the quotes around “art” too.

Based on these comments I won’t post anymore AI generated images. Fortunately I’m working on some story ideas. I’m hoping I haven’t spoiled anyone’s pudding too badly and they can at least enjoy my writing.
