Ideas for shrinking boss mechanics (FF14)

I had an idea for a boss mechanic involving shrinking.
Random player is shrunken small enough to be hard to see (nameplate disappears). They become unable to do anything except move slowly. To remove the effect, they must cross to the other side of the arena. The trouble is if any players get too close, you get “crushed” and instakilled.
There can be other things like aoes going on that require the normal sized players move around a lot.
