The other way is… well, don’t have the interaction at all. The guy is a little statue, or something: can’t move, can’t talk, but he can perceive the world around him, to some extent.

I’ve thought of this is a scenario too, and it tends to centre around themes of loneliness, feelings of inadequacy and trying to rebuild (physically, emotionally, etc.) after a major event. Giving him some sort of consciousness still makes me feel some obligation to expand on his perspective, especially if it also adds depth to their eventual relationship (call me a romantic). But I agree - it is a slightly better alternative to engaging with a tiny man character.

I’m not inherently against F/m and SM content. For me, it just comes with a lot of baggage. But if it makes sense to include or adds to the story (even better), then I can put a lot of that baggage aside. I think with this trope, I can then do away with it entirely once the first part ends 🙂

@Olo in this one, she’s human and he’s a giant who’s been shrunk down small enough for her to carry around. It’s a curse or some sort of punishment to make him learn humility and/or empathy, and they have to figure out how to counter it. He drops hints that give away that he isn’t human, but they’re either too ambiguous or she thinks he’s exaggerating on account of his cockiness.

I’m better at handling F/m and SM content than I was before, but it still makes me uneasy so this first part is limited in sexual content, develops them initially as characters and their relationship and is otherwise a pretty typical “save the shrinkee” story. The second part then establishes that it’s not an immediate or straight reversal of roles. For example, he’s maybe ~10 inches (the size of a statuette or figurine) when shrunk, but humans are finger sized to him at his regular size. Another is that they figure out how to restore him, but they are separated as a result so they’re not together when it happens, and then followed by a time skip of a few years - allows for other kinds of growth and more weight to her reaction come their reunion.

It currently lives rent free in my head so I’m just taking a lot of liberties with elements I don’t usually get to play with.

    • Tiny becomes giant trope

Lately I’ve been playing with a scenario that’s a take on the size trope of “tiny becomes the giant”: usually a fairy or a victim of shrinking becomes the giant later in the story and the power dynamic is switched.

It isn’t a revenge story, as they often are (though I do love a good city rampage if it progresses so). Rather, and without going into too much detail, the lady goes out of her way to help him return to normal, they succeed, and it’s revealed that he’s much MUCH larger than expected. It also presents an opportunity for him to return her kindness in all sorts of fluffy and/or spicy ways.

I’ve mentioned before that the older I get, the more my tastes change. This is one of those changes. Anybody else into this trope?

    • RE: Why liking M/f is not misogynistic

It seems to me that the basic error here is assuming that one’s sexual desires somehow reflect on one’s social values, particularly if one has a hidden or obscure kink.

I consider myself lucky to have avoided experiencing this kind of shaming that appears pretty common from M/f and SW fans. It wasn’t until when I was older that I realised that the fantasy could be (mis)interpreted as misogynistic. There is undoubtedly misogynistic material and fans out there, but I don’t think the fantasy itself is inherently so (both sexual and non-sexual content).

I think people grossly misunderstand by essentialising it to “big = dominant, small = submissive” and conveniently omit other elements like agency (a character’s or the fan’s), subject portrayal, audience, perspectives, themes, etc. It’s the same with F/m and GTS which can also get confused: I also think it is not inherently misogynistic and you would think exemplifies a fantasy where women can feel empowered. In reality, that is overwhelmingly not the case within the fandom and its content (even mainstream content tends to leans towards the male gaze) - consider, e.g. the paradox of power.

    • RE: Does g/t make love triangles better?

I find love triangles really frustrating (not in a good way), but if I had to pick a typical classic triangle dynamic, it would also be two giants fighting over one lady. And if chaos ensues, have at it.

Otherwise, I’ve been appreciating scenarios where all three are enjoying each other’s company. It may be a part of me where I like to see everyone get along, but I like imagining a tiny lady getting smooshed and pleasured as she’s caught between the huge powerful bodies of two hot fellas.

    • Skull Island (Netflix)

For the King Kong and handheld fans, episode 7 has plenty of scenes that may tickle your fancy. It’s a background building episode about Kong and his human lady friend that can be watched as a standalone episode (it just establishes the importance of a particular necklace and explains the emergence of the antagonist).

As a series itself, I liked it! Really easy to watch (only 8 episodes, about 20mins each), good universe/island(?) building, and I’m a sucker for Powerhouse Animation who also animated Castlevania, Seis Manos and Blood of Zeus.

    • RE: What fictional character would you like dominating you as a giant?

I wanted to add: the TV version of Hannibal Lecter. Aside from Mads being an absolute babe (also, what a show), the character is an ideal candidate for a lot of fear-based size scenarios - some situations being more obvious than others. I’ve definitely drawn on him for inspiration for characters and stories.

@littlest-lily playing the new Zelda, I’m reminded that I had such a crush on (adult) Link. He’s like the perfect mix of goofball and badass - a great mix for a giant, I think.

On the original question, I also prefer original characters, but I have played with the idea of characters mostly from video games (since it’s the most regular media I interact with). Namely, Alexios from Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, and Arthur Morgan from Read Dead Redemption 2.

@Nyx my partner bought be Vol 1 for my birthday. It’s gorgeous 😊 yes! Violet Goes to the Beach is a beautiful little comic!

@littlest-lily also great suggestions! I know Microhunter wasn’t particularly graphic to make me queasy, but I found it very confronting in its art and themes. A great story 👌

    • Webcomics/webtoons?

Not sure if there’s a thread for this already, but anybody have any webcomics or webtoons with size content (centring around the theme, or simply containing in some way)?

For clarity, this includes comics published online (legally and usually for free or for a small access/subscription fee). As an example, my personal go-tos are Webtoons, Tapas and Manta.

I was reminded recently after reading the latest episode of Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe on Webtoons. This comic is a contemporary interpretation of the Greek gods and mythology, with a focus on the relationship between Hades and Persephone (with a non-r*pe take). A fantastic comic in general and I highly recommend it for the story, humour and art, but an added bonus is the occasional size content. This usually comes in portrayals of the titans as being many times larger than the gods, who are assumed to be human-sized (with some being able to “grow to titan size” if they are powerful enough).

Another comic of note is The Falcon Princess on Tapas. A story about a princess whose consciousness is mysteriously transferred into the body of a small messenger bird. No one else knows, including the handsome captain of the guard who looks after her. For the first half of the comic she is portrayed as a bird, or as a human in flashbacks. But there have been times her “human form” figuratively substitutes her “bird form” to represent her feelings about (and being in) a certain situation for the reader. Think, woman in birdcage type scenes.

I’m afraid I can’t share screenshots of said scenes, but LR is free to read and TFP has free episodes + “wait until free” type service (inconvenient at times, but Tapas has got lots of content to pass the time).

      Anybody else have any suggestions?
