After so many articles equating macrophilia to “giantess fetish”, it’s nice to see an article that mentions all sexual orientations and genders.

@blehb said in Another Size Kink Article:

Somewhat related, but has anyone noticed the increase in “switches” recently? I feel like back in the day almost everyone was strictly big or tiny, but nowadays I’ve seen way more people enjoying both sizes. I think it’s awesome personally- it definitely gives fresh perspectives as far as content goes.

I think that one of the reasons why switches have become more common is that the community has become more open. It used to be that giant men and tiny women were treated with hostility (and they still are, in certain spaces) but now it’s more acceptable for someone to be both giant and tiny.

It’s one of the better articles, for sure, but unless I fail at English it does still seem very focused on giantesses and shrunken men?! Which is perfectly understandable with them being the majority and all, easier to tackle for writing about it from a normie’s POV.

I’m always puzzled by the experts takes on this (Joe Kort). I feel that correlation != causation should apply to “I watched Land of the Giants and it made me a size fetishist”. I think they got it wrong. Maybe it simply awakens something pre-existing, sleeping inside your mind that just so happens to react to that stimuli?

Like, I had no childhood traumas, no dominating father or mother (she was 4’10" and sweetness). While I did enjoy watching size content from a very early age, it was more a consequence than the cause of my fetish. I surely didn’t feel the desire to dominate my parents growing up, and yet here I am. I honestly don’t know beyond “I’m wired this way” or “hurr-durr me likes tiny woman!”

I still lament the lack of serious studies on the subject.

I know! It’s like almost everyone is a switch nowadays (and/or bi, but I digress). All the more power to them, I’m low-key jealous but I’m sadly stuck with my “cishet-normal-sized-dude-who-likes-to-shrink-down-ladies”. Doesn’t roll off the tongue, there should be a word for that. 😲

@Nyx A lot of forums get divided based on gender or sexuality, but it seems like Reddit tends to have more spaces where everyone interacts with each other. It might make people feel more comfortable about their preferences. I’m pretty new to that community though, so maybe I’m wrong.

@foreverlurk Luckily, in defense of the article, the experts and personal experiences state it could be from more serious childhood experiences, OR something as innocent as a TV show. Which I think is reasonable. They’re not trying to do a whole Freud-style psychoanalysis on everyone. 😅

I do agree though, as a child there was no single piece of media that “triggered” this in me. I was naturally drawn to it from the start.

Hehe seriously some experts really like to claim we’re all from the same basket. I guess my point is more that they are inferring the actual cause as being related to those TV shows or traumas, or some parental issues growing up. Their sources are non-existent or purely based on their own observations, aka “trust me bro”.

To be fair judging by the doctor’s TikTok he seems mostly versed in the shrunken men/giantess fetish.

Excellent article! I love when normies stumble upon size content and decide to take a little trip down that rabbit hole. I agree with Dr. Kort, I’ve had thoughts of shrinking before I was blessed with movies like Fern Gully and Thumbelina. Both of my parents are dominating and pretty mean so fantasies like shrinking down and running under my bed or hiding within a tiny space where their hands couldn’t fit was a creative way for me to cope. Everyone has different experiences and interpretations of the world around them. I will say that I’m very grateful I developed such a unique fetish, I wouldn’t trade it for anything

Personally, I’m skeptical of the claim that “these guys were dominated by women from an early age, so they eroticized their pain and turned it into pleasure.” That’s one possible explanation, but it could also be pure coincidence. We’re not hearing from all the guys who were dominated by women and DIDN’T develop a size kink, so we don’t really have any group we can use for comparison. I think most men who had these unpleasant childhood experiences probably wouldn’t be very forthcoming about it when talking with strangers or acquaintances…UNLESS they were trying to come up with a possible explanation for why they developed an unusual fixation. Searching for answers to that question might cause you to go to places where you wouldn’t otherwise go.

My mom was very domineering and controlling (and still is), and my sister took after my mom. As a kid, I was frequently dominated by both of them to varying degrees, even though my sister was two years younger than I was. I hated every second of it. I didn’t develop an interest in giantesses or being dominated. To this day, the thought of being dominated or degraded by a woman is a MASSIVE turn-off for me. Instead of being interested in giantesses, I had an interest in protecting tiny women (I’m definitely not a switch). I think I had this interest by the time I was six, if not younger, and I don’t remember it being triggered by a particular event or a particular piece of media.

Anyway, my childhood experience was somewhat similar to the experiences reported by these male GTS fans, and my interests went in completely the opposite direction, compared to theirs. I realize that I’m a minority in the size community, though. I also realize that my experience could be an exception, and exceptions don’t necessarily disprove the theory.

It is soooo refereshing to have somebody covering size fetishes ACTUALLY dwelve deep into the community and talk to people with the fetishes. All the articles I have seen did not interact with people with the fetish and just judged it on old research which didn’t cover all demographics of people with the fetish. These articles didn’t actually engage with the size community unlike this one right here.

I still kind of wish there was an article that talked about minorities in the size community but I know that will be a very long way from here.

                    Just chillin down here.

Also I only feel comfortable with being tiny.

@TakoAlice8 well how do you think minorities are affected by size fetishes? I’m just curious as I have never thought about it like that 🙂

@TicTacLover-0 Alice can speak for herself, but I suspect that by “minorities in the size community” she meant people who aren’t primarily oriented toward the “majority” configuration (seemingly F/m).

@Olo if that is true, that makes more sense. As I was thinking I would enjoy a lovely little doll regardless of her ethnicity!

@protect-tinies Yeah, that explanation sounds like armchair psychology, just like the other common one that says “women aren’t into giant men because men are already bigger and stronger than them”.

I wouldn’t call my parents domineering at all. I had a babysitter a couple of times who might fit that description, but that happened too late to explain my interest in size stuff.

Onto the whole minority thing separate tangent but do any others who do art or write stories feel uncomfortable about adding minorities to the shrink fiction. Like personally I’m happy to have a tiny sex toy no matter where she hails from but in that I also feel uncomfortable writing about said desire as I feel I’m delving into the great white saviour/enslaver troup or is that just me. Am I wrong to feel this way about desiring vanilla, chocolate and or caramel when it comes to my tiny ladies

What if the kink also started from just sheer , sexual awakening, per / teen- teen years. to be wanted , desired or cared for. ( the tiggers for it could be as easy as - it’s small , and I could get away with it ,like sneak a cookie from the jar ) ^*

Any young creative artistic mind, could come across an image or situation and reframe the view.
Like, laying on the beach looking up and seeing a woman/man walk by and appear giant . ( perspective )

Or see lingerie adds in a catalogue , where some images/ models are displayed at different sizes .( Mosaic of images. And make that leap .

A oversized ad 20-30 foot , fashion, cosmetic ad in the streets, as one walks by.

Not everything has to stems from trauma I think.

                                —-
As for the interracial size differences , let’s enjoy them, white brown black all wonderful “shades”. , Sure the first story/ collage might feel a bit awkward, but it’s all kinky fantasy.
And each can bring a fun cultural background , and yes sometimes stereotype too. But that’s half to fun. And adds depth to the encounter.
                                —
                                Happy weekend everyone ,

To be honest, that’s part of the reason I tend to be vague about what people look like in my stories (unless they’re inhuman in some way, in which case it’s fair game); if I’m making them all white, am I assuming somehow? Should I be more inclusive? If they aren’t white, well, it’s the ‘I feel awkward about fantasying about oppressing women’ thing in a whole new direction.

Leaving it vague lets people fill it in in their heads more, which is also good since I don’t usually have a picture of said SW in my head beyond, ‘she’s hot’, and committing to the details means I have to, well, commit.

                                  Power is choice.
