@HHunter1 This is why it pays to look at images and stories by people with a different background than your own. If I want to know what makes a straight man attractive, I should look at content created by (a wide range of) straight women. Gay men also have (several) informed opinions on what makes a man attractive, some of which are shared by straight women and some of which are not.
I write my stories for as broad a readership as possible. Sometimes an ugly giant is the right character at a particular moment. Perhaps the scene calls for the SW to feel degraded by being forced by an unattractive giant. But just as often you want a giant who knows how to dress well, who keeps in shape, who has piercing eyes. It’s nice to be able to describe that satisfactorily.

@SmolChlo
…Uh. The point was that, for a lot of women, the attention is so much it becomes unwanted? Like, the random wolf whistle on the street, that kind of thing? There really wasn’t anything about criticism in there. -
@i-am-insane I’m sorry about that, I had to re-read what you wrote a few times to understand what you meant. I thought you were criticizing women who place importance on appearance in the macro/micro world. No worries ~

@Olo Your response has me thinking you missed my point. I will try to clarify. I apologies in advance if that wasn’t the case.
I didn’t say I never write the main male as attractive. Just what I mainly write. I understand to write the character that best fits the story. What I was trying to say is people tend to write/draw what they know/think. So if they think of themselves as less desirable they might make images/characters that reflect a part of them as less desirable.

@HHunter1 That’s fine if you’re just writing for yourself. When I try to write for others (in addition to myself), sometimes I want to write something that I don’t know, so I have to do some research.
-
@Olo Not what I was saying. Not my point. I do research, I try to write stories not just for myself.
What I was trying to say is some people might not be comfortable with creating attractive main male characters because of their opinion of their own appearance. And that might be why the use the ugly man troupe.

@HHunter1 I see. That’s gonna limit their readership, then.

@Olo That is true, hench the conversations on this thread. Clearly the tiny ladies want more handsome giants keeping them in cages and such.
Makes me wonder what other story aspects they would like to see more of.
