Love the variety of expressions, perspectives (first-person FOV grabs/pinchs/handhelds are my
), angles, along with the visual storytelling. -
@Olo I love how this series focuses on the giant man as much as the tiny woman. Also, that part where he stretches out his hand to her is simply amazing.
-
@Nyx Not to mention that there’s just as much of an effort to make the giant man attractive

Yeah, that’s definitely one of my complaints with both the giantess and the giant/SW communities. Whenever I mentioned that it’d be nice to see an attractive tiny/giant man, many of the responses were “But why?” as if they couldn’t comprehend that men could be seen as attractive.

Sadly, this incomprehension isn’t limited to men in size fantasy.
-
@Nyx Yikes. I sorta understand why creators might not worry about putting the effort into making the guy attractive, since I feel like most people in the GTS and M/f space are straight men, and I get that it’s not their priority. I mean I don’t fully get it, because I’m straight and I still like it when the girl’s pretty and have my own tastes on what I find attractive in a woman. Whatever.
But in any case, someone actually responding to that prompt with “why though?” kinda blows my mind lol

These guys have a very transactional view of heterosexuality. Women are sex objects, men are success objects.
-
@Olo As much as I’m aware of the fact that a lot of people still have such archaic views, since the men in my immediate vicinity either don’t have those views or at least are aware enough to not be so transparent about it, the confusion is what never ceases to amaze me

I’ve looked into this to a small extent, and one of the the things that seemingly both genders have trouble understanding about each other is about being acknowledged as ‘attractive’. Women have this to excess, to the point where it’s not only unwanted, but actively suffocating.
Men, meanwhile, just don’t have this. Unironically, men in general are not acknowledged as attractive… ever. You’ll find guys talking about that one time a girl said a shirt looked good on him or something, and they treasure that memory, years and years later, because that was such a big moment for them.
Problem being, it’s so systematically in place that at this point, a girl can’t just compliment a guy anymore, because it’s effectively flirting at this point, and guys complimenting girls are just endless noise… a post I remember said it best: It’s someone dying of thirst looking at someone drowning. The fundamental exprences of this are completely alien to each other.
…All of this is to say, I’m absolutely unsurprised about the, ‘why though’, because for a lot of guys, unless you’re really attractive, or actively unattractive, it’s not actually something that seems… relevent? To a guy? And thus for a guy? Double so in GTS content where the focus is overwhelmingly on the women and guys often aren’t even an active factor on the image.

I know when I write most of my stories I don’t usually make the man/giant that attractive has nothing to do with my sexual orientation. Its frankly because I don’t consider myself very attractive. Not that I don’t have the occasional attractive main male character. I just relate better with the average to lower attractive ones when I write.
Also, since I usually write monstruous/jerks/selfish main males I usually give them less then appealing looks as a short hand for their unattractive natures. A sort of ugly through and through idea.
So those might be reasons why other male sw art creators might make their main male less appealing.

@i-am-insane I think it’s because society places unrealistic expectations on women… especially when it comes to our looks and age. What might come off as suffocating and unwanted is our desperation to be acknowledged as attractive while we are still in our “attractive years”. Men have made it abundantly clear you don’t desire us after a certain age. You don’t think it eats me up when I see the “oh you’d be thrown out by your owner once you’re over 25” comments…
I’m also aware of the unfair struggles that men face and I’m not saying you guys don’t have your fair share but the point I’m making is please try and excuse the women who are seeking shallow validation. We only get a few years to where we can positively receive it
-
@HHunter1 This is why it pays to look at images and stories by people with a different background than your own. If I want to know what makes a straight man attractive, I should look at content created by (a wide range of) straight women. Gay men also have (several) informed opinions on what makes a man attractive, some of which are shared by straight women and some of which are not.
I write my stories for as broad a readership as possible. Sometimes an ugly giant is the right character at a particular moment. Perhaps the scene calls for the SW to feel degraded by being forced by an unattractive giant. But just as often you want a giant who knows how to dress well, who keeps in shape, who has piercing eyes. It’s nice to be able to describe that satisfactorily.

@SmolChlo
…Uh. The point was that, for a lot of women, the attention is so much it becomes unwanted? Like, the random wolf whistle on the street, that kind of thing? There really wasn’t anything about criticism in there. -
@i-am-insane I’m sorry about that, I had to re-read what you wrote a few times to understand what you meant. I thought you were criticizing women who place importance on appearance in the macro/micro world. No worries ~

@Olo Your response has me thinking you missed my point. I will try to clarify. I apologies in advance if that wasn’t the case.
I didn’t say I never write the main male as attractive. Just what I mainly write. I understand to write the character that best fits the story. What I was trying to say is people tend to write/draw what they know/think. So if they think of themselves as less desirable they might make images/characters that reflect a part of them as less desirable.
