@miss-lillipants Really liked it too but I’m not a fan of the way the story ends - you can probably guess why - but there are so few SW audio out there, I can’t complain.

A common thing I love about those is the way the SW first presents herself as being able to care for herself, she doesn’t want to be a burden, etc. But when faced with the reality of being so vulnerable they ask for the giant’s protection.

Honestly, a tiny lady saying she feels safe and protected with me… that makes me fucking melt.

@littlest-lily Can you imagine what (or who) put those 3D audio thoughts (literally) in my head, uh?

For a static recording, on the hardware side I think there are binaural microphones that allow you to record directly in 3D. Or, like @skysayl said, you can use manual panning to get the same effect but I guess there’s more work involved. My only experience is mixing music but that’s another ball game.

I’m doing research for a little project of mine on the software side of things, namely audio APIs, algorithms to simulate realistic spatial audio effects, room acoustics, sound source directivity, and HRTF functions. But that’s mostly about how to transform existing sounds to 3D in realtime for, say, a VR environment.

It’s so unfair that there are literally hundreds of GTS/SM recordings, and so few SW ones.

About the intimate nature of audio, something I always wanted was a binaural (ie. positional 3D audio) recording simulating a tiny walking around you, say from one shoulder to the next, or on top of your head, or on your neck behind it.

I get goosebumps just imagining this.

@littlest-lily That would be crazy… I really don’t want to sound like I’m pressuring you or anything (I know you’re super busy!), I’m just excited at the thought that this could potentially come to life from a silly plea of mine for more SW audio content.

@skysayl I wouldn’t focus on the ASMR aspect too much - I know some people get the tingles and stuff from the way it’s recorded, or through specific trigger sounds, but in this case I think we’d focus more on what is being said, even if it’s not purely “ASMR” (I’m not even sure what it really means either).

It doesn’t even need to be super elaborate. Like in what I posted, I know the delivery isn’t perfect and the scenario sounds cliche but I think she nailed the part where she switches from bratty entitled princess to vulnerable SW after realising she might have to remain that size. Her desire to be kept safe, it’s simple and efficient - works for me!

One night the princess of the castle you work at turned up shrunken by a curse. And to your surprise, she appointed you as her personal servant until she can be changed back. And despite doing everything you can to make her happy, all you get in return is anger and bitterness. You’re just finishing up a meeting with the King and Queen. And after three days of this treatment, absolutely at your wit’s end.
