Eeeee! What a nice chapter for them both to unwind. God knows they needed a break, especially Evie.

RE: Go-to sizey daydream?
@Olo I bought this little lady a while back as an art/size reference. I don’t think it says on the page, but it’s a 1:18 scale model, which is perfect for my preferences - could be a bit smaller, but this was one of the few affordable options with more relatively realistic body proportions at that scale.
If I was game enough to ask my partner to offer his hands to model, I would. But for now, my girly woman hands will have to act the part.

Better not be the only thing you destroy, Aiden.
The whole thing with Camilla has me so on edge

it seemed like a lot of people were disappointed the movie strayed away from further world-building.
Haven’t seen the movie either. I think most normies have shown a general, albeit fleeting, fascination for size content and are genuinely interested when there’s world-building or there’s a reason for it to exist - like most fantastical themes; vampires and werewolves being classic ones. I’ve been lucky to have been able to tell a handful of friends and partners, and be met with curiosity and a “oh, that’s cool!” And then we move on to other topics - hence the fleeting part. If there’s nothing to keep them interested, that’s it until it’s brought up again.
I think the sexual part doesn’t tend to come up because people are being polite. Amazon has probably answered some common logistics questions (including The Boys, Gen V and American Gods) at least.

(I thoroughly enjoyed your idea and story! Hope you don’t mind my stupid average Reddit troll too much - pretty sure the mods would have permabanned his ass at this point hehe )
Aw thanks!
and no, I didn’t mind at all! I really appreciated it. It’s no Reddit post without some pitiable troll weighing in with pointless, muddled response, haha

For sure if an ecologist -esque character is something they want to write, I have sooo much info I could provide
I did a 2-week introductory ecological field methods trip not too long ago for work and study. Obviously it was just a snippet of what you guys do (am assuming you’re an ecologist or adjacent!), but so much of the work was such size fodder. We didn’t deal too much with flying critters, more handling skinks and shrews - istg I was screaming internally every second day with someone gently holding a tiny creature (and then letting them go, of course). It inspired me to write an idea/scenario with a ecologist-type meeting a borrower at a mining/work camp.

Replying to u/BurntProviderLOL dude you clearly need to divorce asap. Been in your position. Aside from the low chances of your wife recovering, there’s research that’s just come out that says that they can still pass on the virus through sex even if they’re no longer contagious - the mainstream media won’t tell you that. Let nature sort them out. Circle of life, survival of the fittest.

I would love to read the story you mentioned 🥺
️ Sadly, it lives fragmented in the personal vault, but I’ll happily post if I get time to work on it! Amongst other things, it needs more interaction with wildlife, considering the characters and context.

Replying to u/CheckPleaseFirst of all, I’m sorry that you contracted MINUS and I hope, for your sake, that it does not become a chronic condition for you. Thank goodness that your husband has been so supportive.
As a fellow MINUS sufferer, first and foremost: try to rest and relax. Whether a short-term or long-term infection, there isn’t much you can do while you’re still sick - it really is much like the flu in that respect.
If you’re feeling restless or can’t sleep, I recommend a free mobile game that’s just been released: Mi-Crow Cafe! It’s an adorable, “cosy” game about running a tiny cafe in a tree hollow for small animals. Each animal is a unique customer, with their own favourite foods, and as you build up a rapport with them, they tell you more about their lives. It’s also got amazing music, very Studio Ghibli-like. On top of that, it’s been recommended as a therapeutic game because the stories are actually based on the experiences of other MINUS sufferers. And I can confirm: it runs just fine on the tablet (I have the same one!)

Ooh were you guys using box/Sherman traps? One of my other favorite things that is such size fodder is when we trap small rodents in Sherman traps (they’re live traps for catch and release) in the winter, we’ll throw in cotton balls to keep them warm. But sometimes, in the morning, they’re still chilly, so we’ll hold them in our pockets until they’ve warmed up enough and then release them in a safe spot
Yes we did, in fact! It was during the cooler months and were set up for nocturnal capture, so we used hobby fill to help keep them warm. We checked and released early in the morning though, because it would get hot and sunny during the day and we didn’t want them to cook. Animal welfare was a top priority.
We also used pitfall traps (i.e. buckets in a trench) in which we placed some sand, bait, a PVC tube with hobby fill, and (this got me) a square of cork for any creatures to hold on to in case the bucket filled with water overnight
just makes me think of a brownie/borrower/tiny human getting in one on accident and then getting warmed up by a giant hand
Bruh, my mind full GT/SW wandering during stand-by times!

Well, my thought about that was [REDACTED]
I like my giants and tinies to have a multisensory experience

Freaky and enticingly open-ended. The shock-collar mechsuits were clever, fiendishly introduced after the physical side effects started taking their toll.
Thanks! If work has taught me anything, it’s that internal retaliation is both petty and more likely to happen than one would think. Easy inspiration for the suits and their intent.
I initially read “CIs” as “cis,” which is (pace Elon Musk) a perfectly cromulent way to refer to people whose bodies haven’t been transformed.
I kept reading it as “cis” too, but it’s just a coincidence.
I hope that in the end Dr. Too Little accepted the price she had to pay for witnessing such a miracle.
She does, but she also doesn’t have much choice.

RE: On tastes, balancing soft and VSW
It’s safe to say that the role of conflict in stories has been covered already.
I’m the same in that I was (still am, sometimes) really wary of incorporating darker themes into scenarios, because I emotionally invest a lot into my charcaters. I really wanted to explore violence and conflict, but I didn’t want to “taint” the characters I was using and also, it had to make sense (talking about romances in particular, but can also extend to friendships or other relationships). I like nice, healthy relationships so it was difficult to imagine, for example, the main giant as a sadistic abuser AND for the story to have a nice fluffy ending for the main giant and tiny. For example, some romances don’t make sense to me, or are not something I would call “romantic”. Like, the “I can fix him” trope is not something I usually subscribe to. Also, Ross and Rachael (iykyk).
In line with @Mrgoblinging7, I create “throwaways” - one-shot, stand-alone and non-canonical scenarios that focus on the dark stuff. I can incorporate regular characters, or make new ones entirely, it doesn’t matter. The scenario is only on whatever theme(s) I’d like to explore - I don’t worry about how it fits in with a fluffy scenario. Not yet. It’s about getting comfortable and understanding what I’d like to see; what would work, what wouldn’t if I did try to make it canon.
If that kind of dynamic between the main characters doesn’t work, but I still want someone to do something, then I use other characters to fill darker roles. Sometimes that’s a matter of preference though - you might not like having another character involved in the dynamic.
Sometimes it’s about reframing the story entirely - would I call something a romance? Or is it better described as a drama, tragedy, horror, etc.? You can have nice elements in all of these, but they’re secondary to the overall theme. It might start off nice then devolve into something darker. Maybe it’s always been fucked up, but it’s never been realised until a point.
Anyway. Those are my thoughts and approaches

great job, a lovely read!
