Well allow me to be an even bigger buzzkill: this is probably a fake poster because it doesnât have the block of producer credits at the bottom

Honestly, given Disneyâs recent history of destroying existing IPâs, that revelation is a good thing. Thank you.

Even though Iâm tired of live action remakes, I make exceptions for the sizey things hehe
I think the world is ready for a gender-swapped remake of Gulliverâs Travels.
An R-rated, gender-swapped remake of Gulliverâs Travels. And an R-rated Dr Cyclops, Attack of the Puppet People and The Devil Doll for that matter.

@littlest-lily gotta make an exception for the sizey things! Iâm sad I wonât be able to see a live action Zak and Crysta⊠hopefully in the future

@SallyFourth as long as the casting is decent⊠I have no complaints but to each their own

Sure, good casting, a good character driven story that is faithful to the original source material would be great. But, this is 2023 and this will be remembered as a uniquely terrible time in the history of entertainment.
But Sally, you wildly intoxicated yet strikingly sophisticated raconteur, âWhy is that?â I hear you say. Well, my children, allow me to elucidate. âFernGullyâ is about saving the environment from deforestation, pollution and habitat destruction which is fueled by human greed. Itâs also a story with a strong, female protagonist (Yes! Really! Years before Brie Larson and Jennifer Lawrence). This is actually a good thing.
Now, fast-forward to 2023⊠what are the clods that pass for screenwriters today going to do? First they will get out their checklist, thatâs their Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) checklist. Following this list they will come up with a prioritized list themes that the movie needs to push, âIn order to reflect the world we live in todayâ.
The inevitable result will be a movie that attacks the patriarchal establishment as the root of all evil. The only characters who can save the world will be the strong females, who are better and smarter than all of the men in every way. The environmental message will be vastly diminished and if Zack is even in the movie, he will be weak, stupid and easily manipulated.
Just like they have done with Rings of Power, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Willow, and all of Marvel. This is not a good time for entertainment.

@SallyFourth not a good time for entertainment ⊠maâam now is not a good time in general.
I canât afford to allow myself to get worked up over these new âwokeâ films or whatever terminology youâd like to use. The media is aware of what it produces and puts out there, if a film or show made you mad⊠that was their intention. They would like us to be as divided and as pissed off as possible.
They arenât trying create a more peaceful world where everyone gets along, are validated and feel included with these movies and shows. In case anyone forgot⊠MILLIONS of children are missing and itâs OUR entertainment industry, OUR actors and actresses that are involved. It truly floors me the stuff people bitch about when it comes to Hollywood, the media and what gets put out there because the people creating it are the sickest people on the planet and to make it worse we idolize them
If there was true justice and true peace on earth then there wouldnât be a Hollywood or half the entertainment that we have been accustomed to and not in recent years but for a while nowEyes wide shut, I tell ya

@SallyFourth FWIW, Disney doesnât seem to own the rights to Ferngully (although I suspect the reported owners (an outfit called Machine Media Advisors) would sell if Disney wanted to buy it).

Tiny Zendaya interacting with giants⊠a dream I wish would really come true⊠I already imagined her held in the palm of lukas gageâs hand, or sitting on his shoulder. I donât care that if it were true, it would have been yet another live-action adaptation. Zendaya as a fairy would have been perfect for me.
