@foreverlurk Back in the day you couldn’t just self-christen yourself as a Dom. No sub in their right mind would play with you. If you wanted to be a Dom you needed to find a Dom recognized by the community and ask him or her to mentor you. Only when your Mentor decided you were ready would you be awarded your vest and gloves. Your initial standing would be determined by your Mentor’s and would then go up or down from there based on your own actions. This modern approach of just announcing you’re a Dom makes my jaw clench to be honest. How the hell can someone set someone on fire, electrocute them, or even just flog them with no idea how to do it without damaging them? Several years ago there was an instant of a FemDomme pony-riding a subby boy. As they trotted past a table she grabbed an ice cube out of a drink and shoved it up his ass. He immediately fell over dead. Nobody had ever trained her and she didn’t know to get the health status of a sub before playing with them or that a sudden shock to the pudendal nerve can cause a sympathetic reaction to the vagal nerve which can stop the heart if someone has any sort of heart condition. She also had no emergency first aid kit because she never expected to need one. Being a Dom means having power, and to quote Spiderman “with great power comes great responsibility”. If someone is placing their life in your hands and you’re accepting it you better be able to not drop it.
Sorry for the rant and I know it’s not pertinent to this forum. It’s just something else I’m passionate about so forgive me please everyone.

@DFP I imagine there are people who get pleasure from urethral insertion considering sounding is a thing that exists and has a significant following online; however, I couldn’t tell you if it’s “genuine” pleasure or enjoyable in the masochistic sense.

@blehb Oh I have no doubt there are people that get pleasure from it. Sounding was a popular thing back when I managed a BDSM club up in Philly. I just never thought of it as something a Dom would enjoy which was the reason for my surprise. Oh well, 40 years as a Dom, 38 of them with my bona fides and I’m still learning. Any day I learn something is a day well spent I always say!

No implication really. It might be more popular amongst people who fantasise being the insertee, but it’s not exclusively for them then either (see: posts above on sounding, and also consider non-participants as either witness/voyeur characters or a reader/consumer of media).
