Why isn’t there much media about giants?

Maybe I am delulu or I am looking in the wrong places, or I am just greedy for giant media.
But whenever I type giants into youtube or a search engine, I just get the baseball team and nothing about actual giants.
And I am not talking about giantess media, I know there is a whole lot of it out there. I am talking about films or tv about giants. I think there is plenty of book media about giants according to what I see on internet archive, even though most of it is children’s books, so not too upset about that.
I recently watched part of a European film called, Jätten or The giant. But I feel it didn’t have much giant scenes. It was mostly about a guy trying to win at pètanque and wasn’t much about giants.
I not trying to ask for movie or show suggestions, I just want to hear why you guys think there isn’t much giant media if that’s true.
Off topic, I would suggest the film fantastic planet if it already hasn’t been suggested yet. Lots of sizey scenes.
Just chillin down here.
Also I only feel comfortable with being tiny.

I have noticed the same thing
i think the majority of the community (especially the art side) are either lesbians (men who fetisihze lesbians) or men
thats also ignoring the increase i have noticed of the gender queer side of the community.i actually have kind of given up on any new art, since i am strictly into tiny ladies with men.
i have even made art discord server where keeping the art seperate and organized is the idea.

@TakoAlice8 Short answer: giants are widely associated with fairy tales and mythology. Most people first encounter them as part of children’s media and generally think that’s where they belong. If you’re teenage or older giant monsters, robots, or kaiju are simply cooler.

@BigGrumpy I agree with your comments about gender persuasion etc, I’ve noticed that too in recent years. Not saying it’s anything bad, but I’ve always preferred the M/f fantasy so other options don’t work for me as good. And I’ve always thought of ‘giants’ as being cool as an artist myself, and as long as there’s the size diffence involved, it doesn’t matter to me whether the woman is normal sized with a giant, or shrunken with a normal sized man.

My channel got nuked off Youtube but I had lots of giant media, including scenes from La Planète Sauvage (Fantastic Planet)
Depends on what you mean by “giant” (relative/actual?), but yeah mainstream is absolutely dominated (hehe) by giantess media, especially right now it seems it has gone “mainstream”. -

Because Attack of the 50 Foot Woman turned giant women into a symbol of feminism, making it something palpable to the general public, while giants… aren’t.
It gives giantess as a concept a foothold in the public imagination to start from, and then just showing skin is enough to get a lot of guys into it because, well, boobs.
Meanwhile, the equivalent is Incredible Shrinking Man, so the concept of a giant man doesn’t have much to go on beyond ‘big movie monster’, and honestly the giant man adjacent concepts have basically been absorbed into King Kong, since the pre-Monsterverse versions have him grabbing and prizing a tiny woman in all the ways you’d expect.
Power is choice.

@i-am-insane I think you make some good points there. The ‘giant’ as depicted in movies and comics and popular culture in general, is more likely seen to be a villainous character or as posing some sort of threat to society (with some notable exceptions of course). And so with the modern trend toward feminism and ‘strong’ female characters in the movie world, it’s not surprising the poor giant isn’t getting the breaks he once did. Whereas the ‘giantess’ concept seems to go from strength to strength. Personally I think that’s a shame, and as an artist, I’m all for a bit of good old male dominance in the fantasy worlds we share. Because that’s better fun to me!
