Honestly, rather than, like, flat out porn or something, I’d like something that’s just… a tiny SW among normies. Maybe there’s a colony with built up dwellings, or maybe she’s the only one, but something almost… exploration focused, really.

Getting from Point A to Point B, using a mix of running, tools she or friendly giants have set up, and parkor, learning to get there faster and more efficiently.

Like Death Stranding if it has Assassin’s Creed style parkor, maybe.

Oh, and a climbing a person mechanic, like in God of War or whatever, but instead of trying to kill the giant, she’s hitching a ride: maybe she has a hook of some kind to attach to laces, for example, so she running jumps onto a moving foot. Or she approaches someone while their sitting, and attaches something more stable to their pant leg or shoe before they start moving, though that requires getting to somewhere with a sitting giant in the first place…

There’s a real place for a sort of simulator like that, built around improving skills and experience, as long as they do it right.

Alternatively, there’s a giant walking around a (probably kind of destroyed city/civilization), and the MC basiclly uses them to help survive, even though they don’t know she exists, with much of the same mechanics, but done on ruined building instead of furniture and whatnot. Maybe after a certain point get to bribe them to… like, break a building in the way or some such, in exchange for… whatever it is they want?

It’s safe to say that the role of conflict in stories has been covered already.

I’m the same in that I was (still am, sometimes) really wary of incorporating darker themes into scenarios, because I emotionally invest a lot into my charcaters. I really wanted to explore violence and conflict, but I didn’t want to “taint” the characters I was using and also, it had to make sense (talking about romances in particular, but can also extend to friendships or other relationships). I like nice, healthy relationships so it was difficult to imagine, for example, the main giant as a sadistic abuser AND for the story to have a nice fluffy ending for the main giant and tiny. For example, some romances don’t make sense to me, or are not something I would call “romantic”. Like, the “I can fix him” trope is not something I usually subscribe to. Also, Ross and Rachael (iykyk).

In line with @Mrgoblinging7, I create “throwaways” - one-shot, stand-alone and non-canonical scenarios that focus on the dark stuff. I can incorporate regular characters, or make new ones entirely, it doesn’t matter. The scenario is only on whatever theme(s) I’d like to explore - I don’t worry about how it fits in with a fluffy scenario. Not yet. It’s about getting comfortable and understanding what I’d like to see; what would work, what wouldn’t if I did try to make it canon.

If that kind of dynamic between the main characters doesn’t work, but I still want someone to do something, then I use other characters to fill darker roles. Sometimes that’s a matter of preference though - you might not like having another character involved in the dynamic.

Sometimes it’s about reframing the story entirely - would I call something a romance? Or is it better described as a drama, tragedy, horror, etc.? You can have nice elements in all of these, but they’re secondary to the overall theme. It might start off nice then devolve into something darker. Maybe it’s always been fucked up, but it’s never been realised until a point.

Anyway. Those are my thoughts and approaches 🙂

Ultimatly, I’ve found that size is generally derived from some other fetish/kink: bondage, rape fantasy, pet play, and so on, all of these share similar origins, it’s just… magnified. Size makes things that are often more ‘consensual’ more of an absolute.

You want to be strong? Powerful? Be a giant, and destroy everything in your way.

You want to be a gentle guardian, or you want a well trained pet? Get a shrunken woman, and treat her to your tastes.

You want to helpless but loved, or to be put in your place? Get a kindly, or not so kindly, person to take care of the tiny you.

You want to feel helpless yet special, weak but still with a life? Be a giant’s That One Person, given unique treatment by the living natural disastor.

Yes we did, in fact! It was during the cooler months and were set up for nocturnal capture, so we used hobby fill to help keep them warm. We checked and released early in the morning though, because it would get hot and sunny during the day and we didn’t want them to cook. Animal welfare was a top priority.

We also used pitfall traps (i.e. buckets in a trench) in which we placed some sand, bait, a PVC tube with hobby fill, and (this got me) a square of cork for any creatures to hold on to in case the bucket filled with water overnight 😭

just makes me think of a brownie/borrower/tiny human getting in one on accident and then getting warmed up by a giant hand

Yup. All islands, everywhere, are basiclly abandoned, since they’re too small to be effectively protected for how rare giants are. Antarctica is basiclly gone, and the containment zones mean large parts of Asia, North America, and Africa are basiclly cordoned off as de facto sacrifices for the various Mid-Sizes. Stuff on the water’s edge is theoretically protected, but it’s very ‘on your head be it’ levels of risk for those who live there (the spring break parties are even wilder in such places than they are now, since most of the beach goers are to some extent adrenaline junkies); ship based trade has dropped substantially, because out in the ocean is filled with monsters, replace with more air freight and less need to in general because of more advanced technology.

Compared to the current amount of people on land, it’s now closer to 2/3s or even a 1/2, I’d think.

It’s what frustrates me about that movie when I think about it; hell, it bugged me when I first watched it, though I didn’t understand why: they set up the narrative of ‘an ogre is a scary monster’ for the entire movie run off of, and then do nothing to make that make sense, even though they acted like it was a thing. If they had gone for a different take, and made it so ogres were misunderstood or something, it would have worked with the Shriek we got, but it seems to be saying ogres are scary monsters, but Shriek is a lazy bum so it doesn’t matter?

It’s sort of doing both at once and neither, so the point kind of gets lost beyond ‘Shriek isn’t bad’.
