Do not take anything I say as mental health advice. Work with a trusted therapist who is accountable to you and you can be open with. That being said, labels on feelings can help us feel like we are in control, especially when we’ve felt out of control for a long time, but they can also become our identities. Fantasies help us manage and escape that. Even JRR Tolkien defended fairy stories (though he didn’t mean smut it still applies) as a way for a prisoner to look out through the bars. I have plenty of problems (autistic, if you want one label) but I had the good fortune to be born in a time with thousands of stories, every one of them is an extra lifetime that I wouldn’t have gotten to live. I’ve read so many books and so many short stories and every single time I dive in and become someone new and live in their world for a while. Much less expensive than going to Disneyland. You can call it a cope. My life doesn’t suck, but I had terrible tragedy in it. I’ve seen some horrible things. But I don’t treat my many lives as cope, but as the kaleidoscope of me that’s gotten to live all those thousand lifetimes while only having one to spend.

@OptimisticSizes Kind of, that and humiliation, degradation, whimpering, begging, kneeling, forehead on the ground, shoe-kissing, life-threatening fear and hunting the tiny prey. Basically bullying the tiny off her dignity and reducing her to a status of utter submission. All sunshine and rainbows.

Yeah, they definitely didn’t have children in mind when they came up with these shitty laws. If we all understand this much, we must stop getting mixed up in debates about what underage users should be allowed to access. We shouldn’t even acknowledge this deceptive justification for their coordinated mass-surveillance laws. They start with the age-old excuse of monitoring porn sites before slowly creeping their dirty fingers into every other aspect of our digital lives. It’s the first stepping stone to normalize future more invasive policies. I genuinely hate the future we’re heading to with all my guts… I hope this will at least incentivize more developers to look into decentralized Web 3.0 alternatives that are much more difficult to control, censor or monitor by a single government or company. Mastodon said a couple months ago that enforcing age verification is essentially impossible given the decentralized nature of their technology. Maybe a site migration to a decentralized forum might be necessary in the future?

I mean, that’s absolutely a fetish in a general sense. I might even say it’s common, even, considering what I know about female erotic stories and the like. I’ve found an almost certainly female author making stories about women cheerfully getting mind fucked into someone just as powerless to resist their owners as a shrunken women is, and a sort of shared universe literally called ‘Human Domestication Guide’, where the main characters are made into obedient pets by invading, well meaning aliens, so… yeah. If you’re into it, willing, and consenting, then it’s not ‘unwilling’ in the meaningful, rape-y sense, which is rather the point where that gets awkward, morally. Hell if it’s just a story or a fantasy, then there’s no one real at all to be concerned about, and RPs aren’t real (unless you’re actually shrinking? ) so even if a ‘giant’ ‘steps on you’ you’re not actually getting stepped on by a giant foot, so… what’s the harm? Honestly, I’ve always found it more concerning the other way around, since then you’re actually doing the wrong thing. The same logic applies there, of course, but I’ve always had problems emotionally accepting the logic about my own desires, so it’s not like I don’t get what you’re talking about.

@foreverlurk haha true, trope is probably not the right word. Whatever the equivalent is for an entire plotline.

@foreverlurk said: I much prefer “lilliputienne”. German doesn’t seem to like double consonants like those in “Lilliput.” Their words for male and female inhabitants of Lilliput are Liliputaner and Lililputanerin. I bought the first hard copy of Milo Manara’s Gulliveriana I came across, which was in France. When Gulliveriana finally has her big disagreement with the Empress of Lilliput, she calls the latter a “Lilliputasse.”

@Olo said: Jude Doyle goes into much greater detail and has some important insights here. This Is How You Lose the Sex Wars Trying to pick a pathway through forty years of the ugliest conflict in feminism. This is a nice reflection and really highlights the complexities of reconciling seemingly very polarised perspectives. It’s possible, and I think a lot of people overthink it. But also very difficult especially with so much distraction (sometimes intentional, sometimes not) from larger systemic issues, and social contexts constantly in flux.

As Big G mentionned, any very short (5’2" and under) women can trigger spontaneous sizey thoughts. Even taller ones, depending on the vibe - yes, she’s hot, but what if smol Otherwise it’s the most random things - a woman wearing an oversized piece of clothing, or struggling to reach the top shelf at the grocery store. Or just using an everyday expression (ie. “I’d like to be as small as a mouse to hear what they said in that meeting!”) My mind wanders.

@TakoAlice8 I’ve been doing some thinking about this, because I genuinely didn’t feel like my interest with Shrinking Women (or some of the other related kinks) had any connection to my body. I’d always assumed this was springing up from my overactive imagination. This was always a “creative” outlet for me and I saw my interest in it as sort of the adult version of when kids play cowboys and indians. Now the unnecessary autobiography. But I did realize something that might be more like what some folks have talked about. I have always been a big guy. I’m just over 6’ and lift weights, I played a bunch of sports in high school (I was/am built like a lineman not a quarterback). And I have a rather big personality. I guess you could think of my natural disposition as John Rhys-Davies or Brian Blessed, or if you watch anime “that American guy” who is usually a mechanic. I was in theatre and loved the stage, I sing well and play a couple of instruments. But from early on I was constantly being told to be quiet or various other versions of “don’t stand out and don’t take up space”. The church I grew up in was full of people who were salt of the earth small town people, and the culture there was positive but sober. They didn’t like noise or noisy people (we sang acapella with no mics etc). My father (also a big man) constantly cautioned me that my size, my voice, my manner would put people off. He was in sales and had constantly had to temper his own size and personality to be a good salesman. So what did I do? I cranked hard down. After a few years I found that I had formed a habit of constantly dialing down, pulling back, trying to take up less space. Despite my strength I’m constantly frustrated that I hold things too delicately. I touch everything like I’m going to break it. Can you see where this is going? Girls like manliness, of course. But I’ve been programmed for decades that girls are fragile and breakable. So… Oddly enough now that I look at it, I can see the symmetry. If I could shrink a woman, she could enjoy all the intensity she wanted she could be satisfied by the overwhelming experience of masculine energy and I want that for any woman I am intimate with. She can have that even while I’m holding back, holding her like she might shatter. I don’t have to worry about hurting her or scaring her in a bad way, she wants my “bigness”. Anyway, I don’t think that’s why I have the kink, but it certainly is why the kink and others related to it continue to flourish in my imagination year after year.

@skysayl I can’t say for sure, because I guess we don’t imagine the same things - where you imagine overwhelming full-body sensations, I focus on small, localised sensations on my body, mostly my hands, chest, and, well, privates. My hands are really good at getting those “phantom” sensations by pure imagination… But having external stimulis never hurts! I found this stress ball squishy thingy, but in a different material than most, it’s NOT the jelly ones, I can’t explain but its texture is leathery/smooth and it doesn’t squish as much, like it offers some kind of resistance. If it was doll-sized and shaped, I would definitely use it to get the imagination going.
